Member handicaps: policies/procedures

Handicaps used in WCSGA tournaments are calculated using third party software which allows for the calculation of a handicap index in accordance with USGA rules. The software follows USGA methodology to calculate the WCSGA handicap index but, for several reasons, WCSGA handicaps are not calculated exactly in accord with USGA rules.

The WCSGA Handicap System is maintained by the Handicap Chairman. After each tournament, the Handicap Chairman enters the tournament players scores in the WCSGA Handicap System. Handicap calculations are updated and the new handicaps are posted on the WCSGA website, as an Excel spreadsheet.

All new members must establish a valid WCSGA handicap.

The method for establishing a handicap is for the new player to play three rounds under the Callaway scoring/handicapping system. Scores from the player’s first two rounds will be double entered in the handicap system, while the score from the third round will be single entered, for a total of five scores required for an initial handicap calculation by the system.. All subsequent scores will be single entered.
